Trio of abandoned 1958 Lincoln Continentals have cool surprise under the hood

This trio of 1958 Lincoln Continentals are in need of some TLC but they each come with a cool surprise under the hood. 

The Lincoln Continental was launched all the way back in 1939 and had an impressive production run that wrapped up in 2020. 

Across nine decades, Lincoln released 10 generations of the Continental. 

In 1958, the third-generation Lincoln was released, with a significant drop in price boosting the car’s sales.

The three Lincoln Continentals all have their original engines

And three such examples – two convertibles and one hardtop – were left abandoned for years and are now in the market for a second lease of life. 

Listed for auction on eBay, the cars are in need of restoration to return them to their former glory. 

Of the three, the red convertible appears to be in the best condition, with the seller barnescoredrilling noting that it has very little rust. 

And there’s more good news under the hood because all three cars come with their original 430 big block V8 engines, which – when new – could produce 375 horsepower. 

Having their original engines is an altogether nicer surprise than the one discovered in the trunk of this 1970s Lincoln – an entire family of mice. Not ideal. 

The cars would make a cool restoration project

The V8 in the red convertible can still be turned by hand – meaning there’s a very strong chance a restorer could get it back on the road again. 

The seller also says he has a bunch of parts for the cars, including bumpers, air cleaners, radiators and chrome trim – although he doesn’t disclose if these are original or what sort of condition they’re in. 

The three cars can roll and steer freely, which means a buyer should be able to load them up onto a trailer without too much bother, 

Of course, anyone considering buying the cars should make sure they thoroughly check them out in person before committing to a sale – but the three classics could potentially be a very cool and worthwhile project for the right person.
