Selling 100 cars in just 10 days at a busy car dealership sounds like a really lofty goal, but you don’t do well in sales without a little ambition.

The team behind Car Lateral kicked off a wild sales event with high energy and even higher expectations.

While it was all fun and games at first, it quickly spiralled into a full-blown pressure cooker.

Within the first two days, it was clear that selling 100 cars in such a short period of time wasn’t going to be easy – keep reading to find out why.

The team became really competitive

The rules were simple on paper: shift 100 cars in 10 days.

In reality, the task was easier said than done.

On day one, the dealership got off to a flying start, racking up 11 deals.

This was thanks in part to standout performances from sales staff like Jack Haywood, who sold a demo Tesla Model 3 mere minutes after the challenge began.

Fuelled by takeaway runs and constant phone calls, the team split into groups to compete against each other.

But it didn’t take long for tensions to bubble up.

Some staff joked about favoritism, while others argued over who deserved credit for certain sales.

Despite the banter, the competitive edge clearly pushed everyone to work harder.

By the end of the first few days, the numbers were promising but not quite on target.

The team needed to average 10 sales per day, but performance fluctuations meant they were already playing catch-up.

Some days saw strong results, while others dipped, with distractions like vehicle prep, customer handovers, and even minor mishaps slowing things down.

Selling 100 cars means the car dealership might run low on stock

One unexpected highlight came when the ‘Miles of Smiles’ team surged ahead, led by standout performances from Megan and Nicole.

Their success added another layer to the internal rivalry, especially as they began overtaking more established salespeople.

Many of the salespeople admitted they didn’t want to lose, which only added fuel to the fire.

Behind the scenes, there were also concerns about stock levels.

With cars selling faster than expected, the team began worrying they might actually run out of vehicles to sell.

That led to quick discussions about sourcing more inventory, all while trying to maintain momentum during the event.

By the halfway point, the dealership had sold around 40 cars.

It was a solid effort, but it still left the car dealership with a steep climb to hit their 100-car goal.

With energy levels dipping and pressure mounting, the second half of the challenge was shaping up to be even tougher.
