Two farmers in the UK live in their home and farm, Stott Hall Farm, which is located right in the middle of a busy highway.
A while back, UK authorities thought about moving the farm to build the highway, but they couldn’t.
They looked into it, but it was simply impossible due to geological reasons behind it.
As a result, the farm is still there, surrounded by six lanes of traffic.

What living in the middle of a UK highway is really like
Farmers Jill Falkingham and Paul Thorp told Channel 4 that it’s certainly an unusual situation, but still manageable.
They were interviewed by the broadcast television channel as part of the show The Pennines: Backbone of Britain.
As part of the documentary, they said the biggest problem, unsurprisingly, arises when there are animals involved.
“I can’t tell you the number of times it’s happened. My phone will go at 2.00am and it’s somebody from the highways agency.
“‘There’s a sheep on the loose on the motorway – can you go get it?’,” he added.

The highway in question, or motorway as we should probably call it, is the M62.
It is located in the north of England, connecting Liverpool and Hull via Manchester.
Construction began in the 1970s and when they got to the section where the farm was, they discovered a geological fault underneath the farmhouse, so they simply decided to go around it.
Houses in unusual places
A house in the middle of nowhere, or in the middle of a busy highway, is uncommon, but not unheard of.
In China, there’s a family that’s been living in the middle of a large and busy bridge for years.
Then there’s the completely different but equally fascinating case of the guy who has a home that technically spans two countries.

Zavikon Island is one of about 1,800 islands belonging to the ‘Thousand Islands’ archipelago.
About two-thirds of the islands belong to the Canada and there’s a homeowner who owns a Canadian island that’s connected to a U.S. island via a tiny bridge.
