The Mercedes G-Class x Moncler by NIGO is a G-Wagon that blurs the line between fashion statement and automotive design.
One of only 20 ever made, it was recently spotted on the streets of Tokyo, turning heads among even the most jaded car enthusiasts.
A photo posted on Reddit shows the rare ‘Past II Future’ edition parked amid the city’s endless parade of luxury SUVs, yet it carries a distinctly understated presence.
Its clean, two-tone design contrasts sharply with the flashy customs that usually dominate Tokyo’s streets, proving that true exclusivity doesn’t need to shout.

Part of a huge collaboration
The Mercedes-Benz x Moncler by NIGO collaboration debuted earlier this year in New York, where fashion designer NIGO, Moncler, and Mercedes-Benz unveiled their limited-edition collection.

Alongside exclusive apparel, customers began taking delivery of the G-Class Past II Future, a car inspired by NIGO’s one-off art piece created for the Mercedes Project G-Class Past II Future.
Each vehicle is based on the new G 450 d and G 500, with a reworked two-tone paint scheme, green and grey bodywork, and checkered upholstery that mirrors the collection’s vintage Americana aesthetic.

Mixed reactions to the Mercedes G-Class x Moncler
The Tokyo sighting immediately sparked debate among car fans online.

Some argued that the Mercedes G-Class x Moncler by NIGO looks too simple for a car that’s so rare and expensive.
In fact, one netizen even claimed that the standard G-Class looks better.
Not everybody agreed.
Others praised the subtle execution, saying that the G-Wagon has the right blend of classic and modern features.
“If you want your exclusivity to be more visible, Brabus and Mansory are always options,” quipped one Reddit user.
Finally, one commenter made an interesting observation: “I never saw as many G-Wagons as I did in Tokyo, they were way too common”.
Subtle or not, the design is loaded with detail.
The black exterior accents on the window frames, bumper guards, and alloy wheels contrast the soft two-tone finish, while the collaboration logo stamped on the spare-wheel cover hints at its exclusivity.

Inside, Moncler’s signature materials and craftsmanship add an understated luxury touch.
Seeing the Mercedes G-Class x Moncler by NIGO in Tokyo reinforces just how global this project has become.
Originally launched alongside a full fashion line, with varsity jackets, puffers and hoodies bearing the Mercedes three-pointed star, the collab was meant to blur the line between streetwear, art, and automotive design.
Seeing it parked casually on a Tokyo street, surrounded by neon lights and G-Class cousins, it’s clear that vision worked.
