It sounds like something from a sci-fi movie, but one billionaire has taken delivery of an underwater supercar that will stun you.
This is the $5.75 million U-Boat Worx Super Sub, and it’s capable of carrying three people to depths of 300 meters.
First revealed at the Monaco Yacht Show back in 2021, the Super Sub went on to receive DNV certification and was launched in 2023.
Capable of reaching 10 knots (11.5mph), it can even outpace bottlenose dolphins.

This underwater supercar is pretty remarkable – let us count the ways
Usually, cars and submarines aren’t something you’d put together – leaving aside one notable incident in Sweden involving a Volvo.
Capable of performing steep 45-degree climbs and dives, the Super Sub is a real powerhouse in the water.
So if you wanted to follow aquatic life like turtles or even sharks, this would be the vehicle to take you down below.

It offers 360-degree views thanks to the fully acrylic pressure hull, allowing all three occupants the chance to take in their surroundings.
Now, for the most risk-averse out there, this might sound awfully precarious.
But the sub is filled with tons of safety features.
Not only has it received DNV certification after rigorous independent reviews, it has also been equipped with Maximum Depth Protection.
This automated system prevents the sub from exceeding its depth limits – if it goes too far, the system automatically intervenes and brings the vehicle back to a safe level.

It also has 96 hours of life support, a safety buoy, and a manually releasable ‘drop weight’ for emergency buoyancy.
Who is the lucky owner of this Super Sub?
Of course, we’d all like to know who owns this remarkable vehicle.
A vehicle worth $5.7 million could only be snatched up by somebody of considerable means.
But the identity of this owner has not been reported in the press, and we can imagine there’s some sort of NDA in place.
After all, billionaires value their privacy as much as the rest of us.
Whether we’ll see underwater supercars roll out to the wider masses remains to be seen.
But that won’t stop people having a go at making their own subs – like this Chinese farmer.
