Alfa Romeo only ever made one V10 beast, and it turns out it was an American beneath the skin.
The renowned sports car maker has been going strong for 114 years, producing icons like the Disco Volante, 33 Stradale, and its new revival of that same range.
But to commemorate its Centurian birthday while under the Fiat-Chrysler banner in 2010, Alfa Romeo took a leaf from the American playbook.
The TZ3 Stradale is the first and last V10-powered Alfa Romeo car and its Fiat-owned cousin Dodge was a clear influence.

The limited-production TZ3 Stradale is an Alfa Romeo x Dodge Viper mashup
While producing great road vehicles, Alfa Romeo also makes some incredible limited-production cars.
With its elongated nose and powerful design, the gorgeous GT Super is one of them.
But the TZ3 Stradale, limited to just nine units, was one of its biggest pivots ever, as it commemorated 100 years of Alfa.
The Italian company partnered with Dodge to create the beast, and the result was magnificent.

Using the chassis of a Dodge Viper ACE-X, the TZ3 Stradale wore the long European sports car style, but under the hood was its first-ever V10.
The 8.4-liter engine was limited to 600HP, but its Viper look was the real pull given the American market’s fascination with the beloved Dodge range.
The TZ3 Stradale has popped up at a number of conventions over the years, having been revealed at the 2010 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Italy.
Former F1 champion Jenson Button drove a yellow-hued TZ3 to the Goodwood Festival of Speed back in 2012, and this hidden gem has even appeared in Florida.

This Italian-American car is the best of Viper and the Stradale range in Alfa’s garages, appealing to both markets – although its divisive mash-up look has been met with mixed reviews.
Nowadays, Alfa Romeo has switched back to its trusted and symphonic V6 engine for the 33 Stradale revival under the Stellantis ownership.
Still, with Dodge joining Alfa under Stellantis’ American ownership, maybe we’ll see another of these Frankenstein Alfas in the future.
