Valve Gabe Newell is a man with many riches, and his $500 million superyacht Leviathan is a testament to that.
But when you realize how much this billionaire spends on fueling this yacht, you’ll be left stunned.
Newell may have a net worth sitting somewhere between $10 and $11 billion, but he still has bills to pay.
And much like the superyacht’s name, this fuel bill is imposing.
Who is Gabe Newell and how’d he get so rich?
Gabe Newell is an American video game developer, best known as the co-founder and president of Valve.
Valve has produced many great game series including Counter-Strike, Portal, and Left 4 Dead, in addition to the software service Steam.
Valve was founded back in 1996 by Newell and his co-founder Mike Harrington, after they left Microsoft.

Thirty years later, and Newell is a very rich man, as you might imagine.
And what do billionaires with tons of disposable cash tend to do? Buy superyachts, of course.
Rocinante was once the coolest yacht in his possession, stretching out at 256 feet.
That is, until he sold it at a boat show where it was the largest yacht there.
Now, Leviathan is the star of the show, and with just cause.
How much does Gabe Newell spend fueling the Leviathan?
Delivered in 2025 by Dutch shipbuilder Oceanco, the Leviathan is a true marvel.
It can reportedly cruise at 13 knots and reach a maximum speed of 17.6 knots.
And just how much does it cost to fill up this vessel?

Only a reported $1.2 million.
It’s a good thing that Newell is a billionaire, otherwise this figure may have just put him off owning a superyacht.
Now it should bear saying that this isn’t a figure that’s been confirmed by either Newell himself or Oceanco.
But it has been reported based on similar reports on fueling prices for similar sized yachts – like the Dilbar’s costs, covered by DMarge.
So as it stands, the Leviathan’s refueling cost is plausible, but not explicitly confirmed.

What sets the Leviathan apart?
Unlike many superyachts that focus solely on luxury living, Leviathan reportedly puts technology front and center.
As you might expect from a yacht owned by a tech guy.
It boasts a dedicated gaming lounge equipped with 15 high-end PC gaming stations alongside professional-grade racing simulators.
Aka, a gamer’s idea of paradise.

According to reports, the tech founder basically lives on the yacht 24/7 because he has so much fun, which is no surprise when it’s practically built for the perfect lifestyle.
With multiple decks devoted to entertainment, swimming and relaxation, it’s one of the most ambitious private yachts ever launched.
Other incredible features include a hospital-grade medical suite, a gym offering up incomparable ocean views, a helipad, and a basketball court.
You know, if you ever wanted a break from all the video games.
