Driving a Ferrari in the desert sounds bold, but that’s exactly what YouTuber Sam Fane did when he took his Ferrari 360 Modena to the Sahara.

In a recent VINWiki video, Sam described how his long-term Ferrari ownership slowly evolved from weekend drives into globe-trotting chaos.

What began as a love affair with adventure cars ended with a supercar skimming the edge of the Sahara.

And now he’s revealing exactly what happened behind the scenes of one of his most daring drives.

The Ferrari 360 Modena was given a few upgrades

Sam, who shares plenty of automotive content on his channel Seen Through Glass, had owned his Ferrari 360 Modena for over five years.

By that point, it had stopped being a coffee-run car.

Instead, it became his go-to machine for big, once-in-a-lifetime trips.

After driving it all over Europe and even to Tenerife, he decided the next logical destination was Morocco.

The trip was inspired partly by YouTuber Harry’s Garage and his legendary Ferrari Testarossa desert journey.

While he didn’t have the iconic Testarossa, he still had a Ferrari.

Before heading south, he gave the 360 some sensible upgrades: slightly increased ride height, extra cooling via an added fan, protected intakes, and minor reinforcement to survive heat, dust, and unpredictable roads.

After a long drive to southern Spain and a ferry crossing, things immediately went sideways.

The promised insurance booths at the port were seemingly permanently closed.

Unable to get coverage due to post-Brexit red tape, he shrugged and carried on anyway.

Driving uninsured through Morocco in a bright red Ferrari was a pretty terrifying experience, but the beautiful sights he saw more than made up for it.

The country revealed rolling farmland, mountains, cornfields, and tiny villages packed with tractors, donkeys, sheep, and curious locals.

The Ferrari 360 Modena stood out wildly, but everywhere he stopped, people were welcoming and excited to see it.

What happened when he drove his Ferrari to the desert

Then came the moment.

With open roads ahead, Sam picked up speed, until the pavement abruptly ended mid-corner.

One second flat out, the next skidding onto a loose surface at speed.

Thankfully, the added ground clearance saved the day, and the lesson was learned quickly: Morocco is not the place to assume road consistency.

Two and a half days later, he reached the edge of the Sahara.

Without actually burying his car in dunes, he found the perfect angle for desert photos: sand in one direction, hotels carefully hidden in the other.

Just as he snapped the shot, a busload of tourists rolled by, stunned to see a Ferrari in the desert.

For Sam, it was the ultimate bonding experience with his beloved supercar.

According to him, he would do it again in a heartbeat, and he would recommend Morocco to anyone willing to explore beyond the postcards.
