A content creator has gone viral for sharing the eye-watering prices of his three last repair bills on his 36-year-old car which equalled to over $10,000.

The creator’s 1988 Volkswagen Caravelle had had to be repaired 3 times not long after he purchased it, with each bill coming to more than $2,000 each.

His video has divided opinion with some thinking he deserves the bills thanks to a poor financial decision and other’s thinking he could’ve been ripped off.

It may have encouraged this TikTok star to maybe look into repairing his own car by himself to save money, rather than paying a repair shop.

Was his 36-year-old car worth it?

A content creator Bodhi (@bodhijako) went viral for a recent video where he shared the 3 last repair bills he got for his 1988 Volkswagen Caravelle, and they were pretty expensive.

The bills came to $6,486.65, $2,954.57, and $2,731.67 respectively, totaling up to over $10,000.

To accompany the video with the screenshots and the content creator looking sad over music, the caption read “‘Buy an old car’ they said, ‘it’ll be fun’ they said.”

This video, as many about cars do, sparked quite a bit of controversy, with many believe that Bodhi didn’t make a sound financial investment when purchasing his 1988 Volkswagen Caravelle.

Over $10,000 later…

Many viewers of the video thought that Bodhi didn’t understand the main joy of owning a retro car-fixing it up yourself and working on it as a project.

As one commenter said, ‘you’re supposed to work on it yourself,’ and with a tongue in cheek attitude added ‘hope this helps.’

“Never buy an old car unless you can work on it yourself,” another added.

The TikToker replied: “I’ve topped off the oil“.

The video has 566,000 views and they’re not slowing down, Bodhi never gave further explanation about what the repairs were that cost so much, but in a comment suggested that a mechanic made a mistake on the first fix, so the other two repairs were fixing the previous mechanic’s work.

Old cars don’t have to be expensive and can be cheap to repair if you know what you’re doing, unfortunately for this content creator, he opened a can of worms with this TikTok.
