This Tesla driver used his car’s feature to the absolute max, claiming that he used Full Self-Driving mode for a mammoth amount of miles.

He managed to travel across the US without touching the pedals or wheel of the car once, letting the Tesla do all the hard graft.

From construction sites to dirt roads and even a windstorm, the driver’s Tesla Model 3 tackled every situation with ease.

However, it turns out that Full-Self Driving isn’t the only autonomous feature you might think it is.

Full Self-Driving mode – here’s what you need to know

Tesla has many impressive features aside from the standard powertrain and EV elements, with Full Self-Driving standing out.

In fact, one man, David Moss, told Business Insider that he’d driven 11,000 miles using the feature, but more on that later.

Full Self-Driving Mode enables drivers to sit in the driver’s seat but not actually touch the wheel, and still reach a destination with ease.

In other words, the car drives for you.

When enabled on the Model 3, the car follows curves in the road, stopping at and negotiating intersections, making left and right turns, navigating roundabouts, and entering/exiting highways, according to Tesla.

It isn’t the only autonomous feature that Tesla offers, either.

In fact, Autosteer and Autopilot also exist, but Full Self-Driving is intended to function in miscellaneous scenarios, from the country to the city.

We should note that with the supervised element of Full Self-Driving, some driver intervention may need to occur, so you should still be aware and able to drive.

Detailing his road trip details to Business Insider, David Moss revealed how he managed to not touch the wheel or pedal at all, even when needing to park or drive to charge his EV.

“I began a road trip on October 28 and have since driven 18,741 miles.

“Around November 25, while I was in Raleigh, North Carolina, I got the FSD version 14.2 update and have driven over 11,000 miles without any intervention as of December 31,” he told the publication.

Since then, taking to X, he’s revealed he’s now hit the 12,000 mark.

The car tackled difficult scenarios, including dirt roads and windstorms.

Now, even though he’s not driven thanks to FSD, he made sure that he was still hyper aware of his surroundings to stay safe and updated the version he was using, too.

“I haven’t tested out being on my phone with my eyes off the road. That’s still against the law, and it’s just not worth the risk,” he added.

We wonder what milestone he’ll hit next; 20,000 miles on FSD could be achieved very soon.
