This is a limited-edition iteration of the Gérald Genta Mickey Mouse Retrograde watch.

It is a tribute to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and it costs a lot more than you think.

At the center of the mother-of-pearl dial, you’ll find the iconic cartoon character Mickey Mouse kicking a soccer ball around.

It looks a bit complicated so the million-dollar question some of you might be asking is: how do you tell time?

CHECK THIS OUT!

Well, you use Mickey’s right hand for the minutes and the small aperture above his hand for the hours.

For the date, you use the retrograde arc-shaped display located on the lower part of the dial.

This watch is made by Bulgari, who also provided the movement that powers it.

However, it is sold under the Gérald Genta namesake, a brand founded by the eponymous watch designer.

Who is Gérald Genta?

Genta wrote his name in the history books in 1970s, when he designed the AP Royal Oak and the Patek Philippe Nautilus.

As for the Mickey Mouse World Cup watch, Genta has also dabbled with similar designs involving different sports and different Disney characters.

Earlier this year, a watch with Mickey Mouse playing golf on the dial fetched over $220k at auction in Hong Kong.

The World Cup watch by Genta is unique and especially rare, with just 200 pieces getting made.

However, it is also expensive, coming in at $23,200.

Imagine how many FIFA World Cup soccer balls you could buy for that.

Speaking of which, the 2022 World Cup soccer ball is called Al Rihla, and it’s made by Adidas.

It’ll be used in every single game from the opening game to the final.

On November 20, Ecuador beat host Qatar 2-0 in the World Cup openeer opening game of the tournament.

Meanwhile, the final will be played in Lusail on December 18.
