SBX Cars has officially sold a DeTomaso Pantera for a world-record amount.

The Pantera is one of the most iconic, mid-engine sports cars of a golden generation.

It forged a truly unique blend of Italian style and American power.

And the team over at SBX Cars has just sold one that smashes the previous record by $33,000.

DeTomaso Pantera remains a legend

The DeTomaso Pantera is an icon among icons.

Yes, that is an extremely bold statement to make, but it is a statement that holds its weight when it comes to the Pantera.

The Pantera was first unveiled at the New York Auto Show in 1970.

DeTomaso would sell the US distribution rights to Ford.

Throughout its life, it was powered by various Ford powerplants.

As you’ve probably worked out, this particular DeTomaso Pantera is no ordinary example.

Because this one was worked on by the legendary Ringbrothers workshop.

Brothers Jim and Mike Ring of Spring Green, Wisconsin, completely reimagined this car.

Dubbed ‘ADRNLN’, this car is truly one-of-a-kind.

It is a completely reimagined and revived version of the legend.

5,000 hours of painstaking craftsmanship went into this beauty.

The body was smoothed, widened, and modernized with carbon fiber accents throughout.

It is finished in BASF’s absolutely stunning Glasurit ‘Yellow Line’ paint finish.

And the story keeps getting better when you look under the hood.

Ringbrothers is renowned for its extremely impressive tuning work.

And that is no different with this snarling beast.

One finds a rear-mounted, 6.2-liter LS3 V8 powerplant.

It has been tuned and modified to produce a whopping 600hp.

The engine, built by Wegner Motorsports, is complemented by a Bowler Transmissions ZF five-speed manual gearbox.

It was originally built for a Nike board member and was completed back in 2013.

SBX Cars breaks sales record

This DeTomaso Pantera stole the show that year at the SEMA auto show in Las Vegas.

Renowned car figure Richard Rawlings then became the owner of ‘ADRNLN’ back in January of 2015.

This example also starred at the Petersen Museum in Los Angeles before making its way to its most recent owner.

And now, SBX Cars has secured a world-record sale for ‘ADRNLN’.

Our very own Alex Hirschi, AKA Supercar Blondie, ran the rule over ‘ADRNLN’.

“This is ‘ADRNLN’ — a 1972 DeTomaso Pantera reborn by Ringbrothers. 5,000 hours, 600 hp, and pure handcrafted insanity that made history,” she enthused.

And now it has made more history, selling on SBX Cars for $363,000.

It surpasses the previous sales record for a DeTomaso Pantera by over $33,000.
