Westen Champlin has revealed the $100,000 off-road ’79 Ford Bronco that nobody has heard of, but he has a meaningful connection with.

He built it two or three years ago for a company, putting a whole bunch of special extras in there.

When the company took it to California, he didn’t see it for a while.

But now he’s been reunited – and it feels so good.

Westen Champlin had a soft spot for this off-road ’79 Ford Bronco

A whole laundry list of extras had been added to this Ford Bronco – a 12-valve Cummins, compound turbos, and five-ton military axles.

With 24-inch tires and 800hp powering it, this truck was large and in charge.

The billows of smoke that it produced helped boost its cool factor, too, of course.

And when you’ve been reunited with your wildest build, you’ve got to take it out for a spin, right?

Well, that’s exactly what Westen did.

This thing was bouncing all the way down the highway, and it looked like an awesome ride.

“God dang, this thing is dangerous!” Westen yelled.

Dangerous in a fun and legal way, of course.

But that’s out on the streets of civilization – what would this bad boy drive like out in the mountainous terrains of Utah?

Surprisingly, the truck seemed a little more trustworthy out in the wild.

“On road, it’s like super tippy,” Westen said.

“But out here on uneven ground, it’s just like we drive off something and barely notice.”

Westen concluded that the Bronco’s problem was that it was ‘too big’ and ‘didn’t need to be this big’.

“All I can see on a trail is either sky or the bottom of the trees,” he lamented.

“Most of the time, I can barely see the road.”

Not ideal when off-roading.

This YouTuber loves his big cars…and taking big risks

If there’s one thing Westen Champlin is renowned for, it’s a larger-than-life car project.

Lest we forget, this is the same guy who took a school bus from Facebook Marketplace and turned it into a turbocharged speed demon.

And that was just the tip of a very large iceberg.

Do you remember the time he put blades on his Corvette, then took it out onto a frozen lake?

He’s certainly down for taking risks, as he demonstrated when he took a backwards truck on a road trip to Texas – unsurprisingly, he was pulled over in two minutes.
