Woman who saved just enough money to retire early and live on cruise ship reveals daily routine

This woman has been living on a cruise ship for decades after retiring early, and she decided to answer a very important question.

And it’s a question a lot of people may ask.

Mainly because it’s a natural but at the same time overlooked question.

Namely: What does a person living on a cruise ship actually do all day?

She’s been living on a cruise ship for a while

YouTuber Libby Rome and her partner had been working remotely on cruise ships for a while before retiring early.

That’s a span of around 16 years all in all.

At this point they probably have ‘sea legs’ like that guy who said he genuinely can’t walk properly on land anymore.

Broadly speaking, their lifestyle didn’t change much – they’re still living on a boat, still living at sea – but obviously the key difference between having a job and not having a job is that all of a sudden you become ‘unbusy’.

Financially, they’re doing just fine.

They discovered that cruising could be far cheaper than people might expect, mainly because cruise lines need to move ships between regions, often resulting in heavily discounted fares.

But that leaves us with the question of what they get up to all day.

Because there are 24 hours in a day and even after you’ve eaten and slept, you still have hours to fill.

And, without work, those hours can be long.

Obviously, the initial thrill of not having to work and having nothing to do all day will result in fun-filled days.

But a cruise ship, as large as it may be, is still a confined space, and there’s only so much you can do.

Well, Libby has apparently found the perfect routine.

This is what she does all day

Her morning routine starts with breakfast – so far, so normal – and a walk around the ship’s jogging track.

Ironically, while she’s technically retired, the YouTube videos she’s been posting still keep her busy.

Anybody who’s tried doing the YouTube thing for more than a one-off video will have realized how much work actually goes into editing videos.

When she’s done with that, a significant portion of the day (and the night) is dedicated to ship amenities – restaurants, clubs, karaoke, bars – and, interestingly, hanging out with other full-time cruisers.

That’s because living on a cruise ship sounds so exotic and rare but it’s actually quite common.

Living on land, especially in certain countries, has become spectacularly expensive, especially if you’re renting.

You’re looking at thousands of dollars a month between rent, insurance, grocery shopping and other things along those lines.

Things that certainly don’t fall under the ‘disposable income’ category.

More like ‘fixed expenses’.

By contrast, living on a cruise ship, while not cheap, reduces the hassle and the headaches.

In general, most cruise ships offer all-inclusive packages, which means you have to worry about nothing as everything – from meals to laundry – is included.

It’s not for everyone but, clearly, it’s certainly for a lot of people.
