Princess Juliana Airport in Sint Maarten is one of the craziest airports in the world.
Its geography is what makes it unique, and it has become a main attraction for a key reason.
This US YouTuber went to check it out as part of her journey on the cruise ship she’s been living on for a while, and the experience was not at all what she thought it’d be.
But her conclusion might still surprise a lot of people.

One of the world’s craziest airports
The reason why so many people can never remember whether you spell it Sint Maarten or Saint Martin is that both are correct.
This is a 37-square-mile Caribbean island divided between the Netherlands (Sint Maarten) and France (Saint Martin), and it’s famous for two things: yachts and Princess Juliana Airport.
If you’ve watched the yachting reality hit show Below Deck, then you’ll have probably seen Sint Maarten a million times.
But yachts aside, this small island is also famous for Princess Juliana International Airport.
Or, as most people know it, ‘the airport near the beach.’

Located in Sint Maarten, the Dutch side, this airport has a tiny runway that’s very, very close to the beach.
People routinely film incoming aircraft from the beach, and they feel and look so close when they’re landing, it’s almost as if you could touch them.
And this was also a bit of a headache for this woman who’s been living on a cruise ship.
This is why the experience was interesting, but also frustrating
Lynnelle is living the dream, permanently living on cruise ships and documenting her life on the YouTube channel Poverty to Paradise.
While cruising on the Symphony of the Seas, Lynnelle had the chance to visit Maho Beach in Sint Maarten – the beach near the aforementioned Princess Juliana Airport – which turned out to be logistically challenging.
Apparently, this beach has now become a major tourist hotspot, meaning you have to leave early to get there, and leave early again to get back to the ship because of traffic.

The line for taxis back to the cruise ships was extremely long and hectic, so proper timing is key.
Even so, in her video, she still concluded it was definitely worth it.
“I thought one of the world’s craziest airports was overrated, but okay, I take back everything I said. It is not overhyped after all,” she said.
