A man who was sent out to find his wife her dream car with a very specific list of prerequisites knew a 1978 Mustang II King Cobra would be perfect, but first he had to convince its owner to sell.
Back when Glen was newly married to wife Kelly, he told her that he had a real love of cars, explaining that they were pretty much his only hobby in life.
Appearing on the Two Guys and a Ride YouTube channel recently, Kelly said she told Glen she was happy for him to buy ‘as many cars as he liked’ as long as she could ride in the ones she liked.
But after years of driving around in her husband’s vehicles, Kelly decided she wanted a car of her own, and she had a very specific set of requirements.

She had a list of requirements, and the Mustang II King Cobra fit the bill
When she decided she wanted her own car, she had something very specific in mind.
“I told him, ‘I want something that’s fast, I want you to be able to hear before I turn the corner, I would like a standard, and possibly a T-Top or convertible, and something that looks cute’,” she told Two Guys and a Ride.
So, she wanted something special.

Luckily, Glen had an idea of exactly what car would fit the bill: a 1978 Mustang II King Cobra, but he warned Kelly that she might need to be patient.
And she was – in fact, Kelly waited about two years to get her hands on the car because Glen had to convince the seller that they had no plans to strip it or modify it in any way before he was willing to part with it.
The beautiful 1978 Mustang II King Cobra was in mint condition and was pretty much all original.
So, it’s understandable that the seller wanted to make sure it went to someone who truly appreciated it, which is exactly what he found in Kelly.

“He realized after he sold it to us, we are taking good care of her,” she said.
“And he’s grateful that we’re taking such good care of her.”
Why the vintage Mustang was worth the wait
The 1978 Mustang II King Cobra was a limited edition, one-year-only model, with just 4,313 units built, making Kelly’s car not only beautiful but exceptionally rare.
The King Cobra package came with adjustable shocks and deep front air-dam, and a V8 under the hood.
The model Kelly owns is still in great condition, and although the couple has vowed to never heavily modify the car, they have added a custom dual exhaust and a set of new chrome wheels.

The couple also made some upgrades to the mechanics, including a new carburetor and radiator, and are now completely happy with the King Cobra.
“I don’t really think she needs anything else,” Kelly said.
“She’s sweet just the way she looks.”
We couldn’t agree more.
