This man took the world’s highest-mileage Ferrari for a spin to see how it held up after all these years.

Jonny Smith from the Late Brake Show took this 1984 308 GTS QV out for a drive after it’d been imported from Texas to the UK.

Not only would this give him the chance to tap into his inner Magnum P.I., but it’d allow him to experience the world’s highest mileage Ferrari for himself.

After all those miles, would it run as smoothly as Enzo Ferrari intended?

How much had the highest-mileage Ferrari been driven?

In his video, Jonny paid a visit to a former mechanic called Ben, who’d found the highest-mileage Ferrari by accident on Craigslist.

Because of his mild dyslexia, he misread the odometer and thought it had 25,000 miles on the clock.

In fact, it had 250,000.

Now, admittedly, this isn’t all that much when you compare it to the heavy hitters of the high mileage club.

Two of the three highest-mileage cars are Volvos, coming out at a combined 5 million miles.

But it comes on top in the rankings of Ferraris, beating out this Ferrari 458 Italia by 8,000 miles.

But the real question was this – how would it drive after over 200,000 miles?

Jonny took the car out for a drive through the stunning English countryside of Surrey.

He found it comfortable and engaging to drive on the narrow country roads, noting that he wouldn’t have driven a newer Ferrari any faster on the same roads.

All in all, the car had held up well.

Ben had done a lot of work on it in the time that he’d had the car, which came to him with a sunbaked and brittle interior.

A factory-correct leather makeover had things looking as they should again.

Work was also done to give the car an engine rebuild, and a full suspension and brake overhaul.

“[The restoration makes it good] for another 250,000 miles,” Ben commented.

It was the opinion of both Ben and Jonny that these cars were meant to be enjoyed out on the road, not sitting gathering dust in garages.

Is it time that we stop obsessing over cars having ultra-low mileage?
