The royal caribbean Star of the Seas, is set to be the largest cruise ship in the world.

Currently under construction at Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland, the ship is expected to debut in August 2025.

Stretching 1,198 feet in length and 213 feet in width, the Star of the Seas will feature 19 decks, including 12 passenger decks.

A content creator had the opportunity to have a behind-the-scenes look at the construction process, as well as some insight into how much it costs to build such a behemoth.

Content creator Alex Ojeda shared his experience on Instagram.

A representative from Royal Caribbean took him around world’s largest cruise ship, showing him the major attractions that are under construction.

The first stop is the waterpark.

Technically, calling it a mere waterpark is doing it a great disservice, since it’s technically the world’s largest waterpark on a cruise ship upon its completion.

The waterpark’s skeleton is mostly complete, although some of the slides still need to be installed.

The ship will also have a huge AquaDome, which holds the distinction of being the world’s largest glass and steel structure lifted onto a ship.

In this AquaDome, you can enjoy panoramic views of the sea.

The representative also showed Ojeda the ship’s most expensive suite.

Dubbed the Ultimate Family Town House, it lives up to its name by having an indoor slide within the suite itself (although it’s still under construction).

Next was the world’s largest ice rink on a cruise ship, which still requires some testing before its official rollout in August.

In general, workers can be seen putting the finishing touches on various areas in the ship, preparing it for its debut sailing this summer.

Of course, the real question is: how much does this all cost?

Cruise ships are famously expensive, and even a million dollars is chump change when you’re attempting to restore one.

Well, according to the representative, the ship’s construction costs more than a billion dollars, which is a staggering amount even for a cruise ship.

Shockingly, sources online indicate that the ship’s real cost is closer to two billion dollars.

Currently, the world’s largest cruise ship also belongs to Royal Caribbean: the Icon of the Seas.

The Icon of the Seas is already so big that it weighs five times the weight of the Titanic, so it’s mindboggling that the company’s latest ship will be even bigger.

One thing is for sure, cruise enthusiasts are just lining up to give the Star of the Seas a try.

In fact, if you’re lucky, you may even encounter some full-time cruise residents on-board the massive vessel.
