The ‘world’s largest superyacht’ is a $600 million city on water

This is the $600 million SOMNIO, it’s set to be the world’s largest superyacht.

When it’s ready, a lucky few will be able to move into its 39 luxury apartments when the ship sets sail in 2024.

It’s basically a floating apartment building for the super-rich.

It looks spectacular due to its sheer size.

The SOMNIO measures 222m (728ft) and it’ll be the “world’s largest yacht by length and volume”, according to its website.

It is getting built right now by Vard in Norway.

How much do apartments on world’s largest superyacht cost?

As you’d expect, each apartment is entirely customizable.

You can buy one and submit your ideas to Vard because the company has teamed up with UK-based Winch Design precisely for this reason.

Once onboard, you’ll find swimming pools, jacuzzis, watersport facilities, restaurants and even a 10,000-bottle wine cellar.

The smallest and least expensive apartments start at $20 million and sales are expected to be by invite only.

“Somnio will be the only residential superyacht in the world and has been designed to exacting standards that are commensurate with a life of opportunity,” Captain Erik Bredhe said at the time the project was announced.

“Owners will share a truly unique lifestyle at sea, with a hand-picked crew and a never-ending global itinerary of carefully selected destinations and experiences befitting a yacht of this nature.”

Winch Designs’ Jim Dixon added: “Embarking on such a spectacular and pioneering project brings a huge amount of pride and excitement for the Winch Design team and follows an enormous amount of hard work already achieved.”
