The world’s longest golf course, Nullarbor Links, is an 18-hole, par-72 adventure stretching a staggering 850 miles across the remote Australian outback.

Spanning from Kalgoorlie in Western Australia to Ceduna in South Australia, the course takes players on a journey through dusty mining towns, windswept plains, and wildlife-rich highways.

Each hole is located in a different town or roadhouse, making it as much a road trip as a round of golf.

Originally conceived as a road safety initiative to combat driver fatigue, it has since become a bucket-list experience for golfers and travelers worldwide.

You’re facing up to 120 miles between holes

This bizarre golf course was initially dreamed up in 2009 by the Eyre Highway Operators Association to boost tourism.

Just like this musical road creates songs for drivers to encourage speed-limit driving, this golf course is also an innovative way to encourage drivers to take it slow.

After all, if you aren’t careful while driving, you might end up getting your car stuck on a beach.

Now, the world’s longest golf course has become a bucket-list challenge for golfers and road-trippers alike.

Some holes are part of functioning local courses in towns like Ceduna, Eucla, Norseman, Kambalda, and Kalgoorlie.

Others were specially built along remote stretches with synthetic greens and tees set into raw outback terrain.

Driving between holes is part of the gauntlet; on average, you’ll cover 41 miles between holes, with the longest gap nearing 120 miles.

Finishing the world’s longest golf course could a week

Whether you’re dodging kangaroos, avoiding venomous snakes, or sweating under daytime temps that soar above 122°F, this is golf at its most rugged and memorable.

Play the course in either direction, and be sure to get your unique scorecard stamped at each hole.

Once you’ve completed your marathon-round golfing journey, you can collect your certificate of completion in the towns of Ceduna or Kalgoorlie.

Some adventurous souls tackle it in only four days, while others take their time, turning it into a week-long outback odyssey filled with local flavors and unforgettable vistas.

Australia is a really big place, and it often takes a while to drive from place to place.

If you aren’t in a self-driving Cybertruck making use of its autopilot function, the Nullarbor Links may be a really great opportunity to space out your trip and stretch those legs on your road trip.
