Man tries to drive the world's smallest car Peel P50 from London to Paris and it goes about as well as you'd expect

This YouTuber decided to drive the world’s smallest car, the Peel P50, from London to Paris, and it went exactly as expected.

The journey was a nightmare for a combination of reasons.

The size of the car didn’t help, but mainly because of one reason.

And the P50’s biggest problem will give car fans a huge opportunity to say, ‘I told you so’.

The Peel P50 is more spacious than you think

The Peel P50 is the world’s smallest car, but, amazingly, it is actually more spacious than you might imagine.

A few years ago, Jeremy Clarkson – who’s 6 feet 7 – drove it without a problem on Top Gear.

It was cramped and uncomfortable, but he fit, which is more than you could say about other cars he’s driven.

Years later, another celebrity took this to the next level.

Olivier Richters, a Dutch bodybuilder and actor who stands 7 feet 2 inches tall, somehow managed to squeeze himself into the car and drive it.

Then there’s Ally Law, a YouTuber, who’s not as tall as Jeremy Clarkson or Olivier Richters, but probably braver.

That’s because Law did something even Clarkson didn’t think to do: he drove the P50 from London to Paris.

The world’s smallest car is probably not the best vehicle for a road trip

YouTuber Ally Law decided to drive the Peel P50 from London to Paris, which sounds like a bad idea.

And it was.

The trip began with multiple breakdowns and oil leaks.

Also, lest we forget, the P50 has no seatbelts or airbags, which made the trip even more dangerous.

Things got worse in France, for at least three reasons.

First, traffic was worse in Paris than it was in London; second, the weather was miserable and visibility was poor; and third, Law is English and used to driving on the ‘other’ side of the road.

But the biggest problem was speed, or more accurately the lack of it.

Despite being road legal in theory, the P50 is too slow to be safe on the highway, where everyone around you is much, much bigger and faster than you.

“I’ve got a massive traffic jam behind me. I’m going flat out 28 mph,” Law said in the video.

Still, Law did survive the trip, and so the did the P50, even though it was leaking oil and some of its panels were missing.

But it’s still a good result for a barely street-legal tiny car built 60 years ago.
