A rapidly expanding Chinese EV brand has just unveiled a potentially serious Tesla Model Y competitor: the Xpeng G7.
The G7 just had the covers thrown off it in China.
What has shocked people is the price, with the model being priced at just $27,000.
And it might just be the next looming Asian threat to the Tesla Model Y.

Xpeng G7 throws its hat in the EV crossover ring
The manufacturer is the latest Chinese brand to cause headaches for Tesla.
America’s premier EV brand is facing ever-growing competition from the Far East.
Xiaomi just unveiled its brand-new YU7 just last week, for example.
That $35,000 offering is very Ferrari Purosangue-looking in its image.
It is, however, an all-electric SUV with over 400 miles of range on a single charge.
And Xpeng has now decided to throw its hat into the ever-expanding EV crossover ring.
To that end, the brand has unveiled its brand-new offering: the G7.

By far, its standout feature is not necessarily its performance or its interior features.
Instead, it stands out for arguably the most important reason – the price.
The Xpeng U7 is priced at an astonishing 195,800 Chinese yuan.
In case you’re struggling with the currency calculator, that works out to a touch over $27,000.
It is priced much, much more aggressively than any of its Chinese rivals.
And now this Tesla Model Y competitor has the market leader square in its crosshairs.

What features does the interior of the Tesla Model Y competitor offer?
So, we know it’s priced competitively – but what about the numbers behind the car itself?
Well, the G7 is powered by a single rear-wheel-drive electric motor producing 292bhp.
The performance numbers aren’t much to write home about, but the range certainly is.
In fact, the Xpeng G7 can cover between 374 to 436 miles on a single charge.
On the inside, the Chinese brand has very much embraced minimalism with its features.

A large, 15.6-inch central touchscreen is the centre feature of the new Xpeng G7.
It also comes with an expansive, 87-inch AR-HUD augmented reality display developed with Huawei.
Dual 50W wireless phone chargers can be found, as can a 20-speaker premium audio system.
Could the new Xpeng G7 prove to be a viable contender to the Tesla Model Y and its crown?
