You can now buy a Tesla Supercharger as the EV maker opens up its ‘Superchargers for Business’ program.

For the first-time, Tesla is selling its Superchargers to businesses, allowing them to ‘join the world’s largest fast charging network’.

While the purchaser will own the Supercharger, the company says it ‘will handle any required equipment servicing for you’.

Meaning, you can simply buy a Tesla Supercharger and start offering fast-charging – but it won’t come cheap.

You can buy a Tesla Supercharger for the first time

It’s fair to say that the Supercharger rollout has been a huge success, with the EV charging stations popping up throughout the US.

The EV carmaker even launched its very own drive-in diner, complete with Superchargers, although that’s received some mixed reviews.

Now, for the first time, you can buy a Tesla Supercharger through the newly-launched Superchargers for Business program.

“By purchasing your own Superchargers, you get the technology, reputation, and industry knowledge that we’ve acquired from over a decade of managing Supercharger operations,” the carmaker explained on its website.

The program is hoping to attract business owners to purchase white-labeled Superchargers that come with the same software, hardware, pricing controls, and services you’d find on the Tesla network, but will be owned and operated by the purchaser.

The carmaker also vows to be with business owners throughout the process.

“We treat your site like we treat our sites,” the site goes on.

This includes a full service package covering things like preventative maintenance, driver support and network operations.

The company says introducing its EV charging station into your business can help bring in more customers and it promised to provide  ‘over-the-air software updates throughout their lifetime’, which will help improve the driver’s experience ‘like magic’, apparently.

Installing the charging stalls doesn’t come cheap

While this is the first time you can buy a Tesla Supercharger, as the program’s name suggests, it’s aimed at businesses rather than the individuals.

The website doesn’t reveal how much it costs to buy one of the charging units, but according to a post on Reddit, one man was told it would come in at around $50,000 per install.

Not only that but there’s a minimum purchase of four stalls, meaning it would cost around $200,000 to make the Superchargers operational.

Another comment said that on top of this, the company charges a $0.10 kWh to cover the cost of maintenance.

However, as yet, Tesla hasn’t revealed the cost, so if you’re interested it might be worth getting in touch for a quote.
