The internet has seen plenty of quirky pet projects, but few compare to the jaw-dropping miniature subway system this Chinese YouTuber built for his cats.
Known for spoiling his pets with elaborate creations, YouTuber Xing Zhilei has already crafted them a supermarket, a theatre, a spa, and even a garage.
This time, though, he went bigger (and deeper) by constructing an underground train station scaled perfectly for feline commuters.
The resulting train for cats, which took him four months to complete, has left viewers both amazed and amused.

Better public transport than some countries
Many people love their pets; this man even quit his corporate job to sail around the world with his cat, despite having zero sailing experience.
However, this YouTuber’s passion for his cats is on a whole new level.
Xing unveiled the creation on Aug 17 in a two-minute video posted to his channel, Xing’s World.
His cats, the stars of the show, are seen calmly boarding and exiting the train for cats as automated announcements echo through the cat subway station.

The attention to detail is remarkable: platform screen doors open in sync with the train doors, and there’s even a working escalator to carry tiny paws up and down.
Xing himself can technically fit inside the train for cats, but only if he lies almost completely flat.

The video quickly went viral, racking up more than 105,000 views in just two days.
Fans flooded the comments with admiration and a healthy dose of envy.
One viewer joked that ‘the cats in China are getting better public transit than the humans in America,’ while another quipped that Xing’s pets have basically won the lottery of life.

But beyond the jokes, many praised Xing for his artistry and engineering chops.
Commenters marveled at his craftsmanship, pointing out details like illuminated signage, textured paintwork, and the overall realism of the miniature subway system.
One fan summed it up perfectly: “This is spectacularly well done! It could be a movie set.”
Building the miniature subway system for cats wasn’t easy
Xing admitted that the cat subway station project wasn’t all smooth sailing.
The most difficult parts, he said, were designing a functioning escalator and coordinating the platform and carriage doors to open simultaneously.

Still, after months of trial and error, the cat train now runs seamlessly.
For Xing’s cats, the cat subway station is just the latest addition to what fans have affectionately dubbed ‘Cat Town’.
With a canine driving school popping up in New Zealand, perhaps there’s room for a train conductor course for cats as well.
