A YouTuber and car enthusiast bought a 1985 Porsche 944 from a subscriber, but after years parked, the vintage vehicle wasn’t in the best shape.

The Porsche 944 was in production from 1982 until 1991 when it was succeeded by the 968.

More than 163,000 944s were built during that production run, making it the most successful car in Porsche’s history – until the Boxster came along.

While the car is considered an absolute classic, this 1985 example had been left parked since 2013.

The YouTuber was determined to rescue the 1985 Porsche 944

It’s always great to see a long-forgotten car being rescued after years off the road – like this Ford Galaxie XL that was parked for almost 40 years before it was saved, or this vintage Chevy truck that was left gathering dust for half a century.

And now YouTuber and car enthusiast Not Economically Viable has stepped in to rescue this 1985 Porsche 944.

The car had been bought by one of the YouTuber’s subscribers – he snapped up the classic car as a ‘dream project’ but after taking on some home renovations, he realized he didn’t have the time or energy to dedicate to the Porsche.

So, he reached out to the YouTuber who is ‘on a mission to save as many of these cool old cars from being scrapped or parted out as is humanly possible’  and he was happy to step in.

The poor old Porsche had seen better days, but would it run again?

As you might imagine, the car wasn’t exactly in the best shape and had clearly seen better days.

“It obviously needs a fair bit [of work],” he noted as he pointed out various holes, bumps, and scrapes on the bodywork.

There’s also construction debris, leaves, and moss scattered across the poor old Porsche.

The interior wasn’t much better, with tears, rips, no roof lining, and a missing door panel. Not ideal.

But look, if anyone is up to the challenge of getting this 944 back up and running it’s this guy.

And that’s exactly what he did. Despite never having worked on a Porsche 944 and not being a professional mechanic, Not Economically Viable put in some serious hard work and effort, and – ta-dah! – he got the Porsche back on the road.

You can watch the full rescue and repair job on the Not Economically Viable YouTube channel.
