This YouTuber bought himself a 1968 Dodge Charger and put a 1,500HP engine to build his dream car.

Although every single inch of the car was eaten by rust, it wasn’t enough to stop this man from putting a third-generation HEMI Hellcat engine in it.

It originally had a motor from an upside-down motor home, but it didn’t work at all and only made loud noises.

This project car, born out of love, required an unenviable amount of effort to get just right, but the results speak for themselves.

Putting a 1,500HP engine in a 1968 Dodge Charger

YouTuber and horsepower connoisseur Westen Champlin has always dreamed of having a Dodge Charger.

So, last fall, he bought a rusted Charger that seemed to be on its way to the junkyard.

Champlin named the car ‘Tater’ and started an ambitious dream from there.

Although we live in a world where an electric Dodge Charger is a thing, the classic still holds a lot of value in people’s minds.

So to make his dream come true, Champlin swapped the original engine with a Hellcat engine and an old-school supercharger.

Getting the car set up was not such an easy task.

The team had to fix holes in the Charger’s aging floorboards and make space for the transmission and exhaust.

This project car was not easy, but at least it got finished, unlike these abandoned cars.

Once it was finished they took the Dodge Charger out for some burnouts.

However, just as they were about to go for it, tragedy struck.

Due to the intense power, the car’s intake manifold violently exploded, splitting in half.

Fortunately, the Hellcat motor and blower were unharmed.

However, it might take a while before Champlin can do some burnouts with his Dodge Charger.
