Famed YouTuber Cody Detwiler, better known as the Founder of WhistlinDiesel, confirms he’s been arrested over a Ferrari F8 Tributo that he destroyed in a piece of content.

The content creator has been pushing the limits of popular cars for a decade.

With a focus on fast sports cars and American muscle, the Indianian man has racked up ten million subscribers on his YouTube platform.

But one of his most popular cars, which was destroyed in a wild stunt piece, has now landed him in hot water with the state of Tennessee.

The destroyed Ferrari F8 Tributo

Although he’s showcased a real love for the biggest set of wheels America has to offer, Cody Detwiler has shown appreciation for supercars like the Ferrari F8 Tributo.

Bought in 2023, the supercar was bought for the sole purpose of ‘being destroyed’, and he lived up to the promise.

In an upload to his channel in August 2023, the YouTuber took it out to a dry crop field before burning it up and creating so much heat that the grass caught fire and engulfed the car.

However, it appears that the car is now being investigated as part of a tax evasion debacle.

Taking on social media, Cody Detwiler revealed that he had been arrested, but insisted that he had done ‘nothing wrong’.

With the strapline of ‘Won so big they thought I was cheating,’ the WhistlinDiesel founder posted his mugshot and pictures of the arrest.

“I didn’t do ANYTHING,” he added.

However, court documents have revealed that the investigation is ongoing, and he was released after paying $20,000 in bail fees.

The cour documents read: “Cody Shane Detwiler, heretofore, to-wit, on or about January 30, 2023 before the finding of this presentment in said County and State, did unlawfully and willfully attempt in any manner to evade or defeat any tax due the State of Tennessee in an amount of five hundred dollars ($500) or more, to-wit sales tax due on the purchase of a 2020 Ferrarii F8 Tributo, in violation of Tennessee Cody Annotated 67-1-1440(g), a Class E Felony, and abasing the peace and dignity of the state of Tennessee.”
