Zagato has created this absolutely stunning one-of-one rebodied Alfa Romeo 8C DoppiaCoda – or ‘double tail’ – for a very lucky mystery customer.

The original Alfa 8C Competizione was released in 2007 as a coupe, with the 8C Spider being released the following year.

Both vehicles had a short and sweet production run that ended in 2009 and 2010, respectively.

During that time, 500 8C Competiziones were made and 329 8C Spiders were built.

Now, Zagato has reimagined the 8C, and it looks even more beautiful than the original and is a lot rarer.

The Alfa Romeo 8C DoppiaCoda Zagato was unveiled at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, and even amongst the plethora of stunning cars on display, it managed to stand out.

The car was designed and built in-house by Zagato for a ‘visionary’ Italian car collector, who hasn’t been named.

In a press release, the coachbuilder said the new car is ‘both a historical homage and a visionary concept’.

It’s Italian name translates into English as ‘double tail’, and the DoppiaCoda was made by fusing the Kamm-tail and rounded tail designs to create something brand-new, something the coachbuilder thinks could usher in a new chapter for it’s designs.

“We may have just started a new chapter in Zagato design, focused on researching tail sections and exploring new aerodynamic and stylistic solutions to spark innovation — just like coachbuilders always used to do,” president of Zagato Andrea Michele Zagato said

“With the AGTZ Twin Tail project in 2024, we explored the concept of a single car convertible between short-tail and long-tail configurations, effectively offering two cars in one.

“With the 8C DoppiaCoda, instead, we created a true fusion of round and truncated tails into a single body style — one that still preserves the functional benefits of both.”

Zagato hasn’t shared any technical specs on the Alfa Romeo 8C DoppiaCoda Zagato, so it’s likely that it held onto its original Ferrari-derived V8, which offers 444 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque.

If it is the original C8 engine, then the car will be able to do 0 to 62mph (100km/h) in 4.2 seconds, with a top speed of 181mph (292km/h).
