Chinese manufacturer Zeekr has unveiled its new, monster SUV with 1,381hp under the hood and the world’s largest hybrid battery.

China has been impressing the whole world with some of its cars recently, and the Zeekr is one of them.

The company previewed its new 9X at the Shanghai Auto Show a few months ago, although it revealed very little information about the new car.

Four months after its reveal, Zeekr has finally given us some information on its new SUV, and it speaks for itself.

What lies under the hood of the Zeekr 9X

Under the hood of the SUV is a plug-in hybrid powertrain, the first to come from the company.

Previously, everything released by Zeekr, such as the 001, had been fully electric.

The 9X has a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder powertrain under the hood, producing 275hp.

However, the addition of three electric motors sees the power jump to an astonishing 1,381hp.

That makes this hybrid more powerful than the likes of the Lamborghini Urus and the Charles Leclerc-approved Ferrari Purosangue.

With all the power, the SUV can go from 0-62mph in 3.1 seconds with a top speed of 149mph.

But that isn’t all this monster has up its sleeve.

In fact, it’s the battery packs that make for the most interesting point of discussion.

The largest hybrid batteries available

Two versions of the 9X will be available to buyers in China.

These are a 55kWh battery pack and a 70kWh pack.

The latter of those is currently the largest hybrid battery offered in any plug-in hybrid vehicle.

Thanks to its size, the 70kWh battery pack has a range of 187 miles, which is very impressive.

Like some recent Chinese EVs, the Zeekr 9X also boasts a very impressive recharging time.

A 900-volt electric system onboard the SUV allows for a rapid charging time of nine minutes from 20 to 80 percent.

Few cars on the market can even come close to matching that figure.

The SUV is also striking to look at, thanks to its size and proportions.

And the interior looks good too, with a digital instrument cluster and large infotainment screen as the standouts.

When it goes on sale in China, the 9X should be priced below $100,000.
