The owner of this 1968 Chevrolet Camaro joined the army, leaving the car parked inside a barn for 40 years.

Now, he’s put the classic Chevy up for sale with a $1 starting price.

Chevrolet introduced the Camaro in 1966 as a competitor to the Ford Mustang.

The first generation was produced from 1966 to early 1970 and was available in Super Sport, Rally Sport, and high-performance Z/28 models.

Although not quite as popular as the Ford Mustang, the first-generation Camaro was a good seller for Chevy.

Which means that you still see plenty of examples knocking around these days, like this 1969 Camaro Z/28 found in Georgia, or this bargain 1968 Chevrolet Camaro that was fixed for next to nothing.

Another example of a 1968 Chevrolet Camaro has recently been listed for sale on eBay and it seems as though the owner is a very motivated seller.

In the listing, the owner explains that he had the car as a ‘high school hot rod’ prior to signing up for the military.

After he went away to serve, his dad parked the Camaro in a barn where it remained for the next 40 years.

The seller said he didn’t have the means to fix it up and restore it himself, so the car was now in search of a new home and a new owner who could restore it to its former glory.

The seller has listed the vehicle as a 1968 Chevrolet Camaro Rally Sport/Super Sport, but the car doesn’t appear to be either of those models, and the owner has since posted an update to say he doesn’t actually know the exact model.

Nonetheless, it is a real deal 1968 Chevy Camaro.

But, as you can probably imagine, after four decades parked in a barn, the car is in need of some TLC.

Its paintwork and interiors look worn and tired, and the engine bay looks as though it may have been home to rodents at some point.

The seller doesn’t share details on whether the 327 cubic-inch V8 engine is original or a replacement, and he hasn’t revealed how many miles the car has done.

Still, it seems the seller is keen to get the car off his hands as he’s posted it with a $1 starting price.
