This 1970 Chevrolet Camaro cost more than $100,000 to build and comes with a bold custom paint job, but when the owner tried to sell it, he was met with underwhelming bids.

The 1970 Chevrolet Camaro is already a head-turning car thanks to its muscle car good looks.

But this one has been dialed all the way up to 11.

After investing more than $100,000 into the pony car, the owner was hoping to sell it off to a new home, but its price proved to be a bit of a stumbling block.

The 1970 Chevrolet Camaro custom paint makes the ‘flames appear alive’

Even before the $100,000 of custom work carried out on the car, the 1970 Camaro was a pretty special find.

The 1970 models, sometimes referred to as the 1970 ½ due to being released halfway through the model year, are widely regarded as the most desirable of the second-generation Camaros.

Of course, this particular model has got a lot more going on than the average 1970 Camaro, just take a look at the paintwork for starters.

The owner of the car worked with PPG Paint to create the unique exterior, which cost almost as much as the car itself.

The Chevy is finished in a deep red color with orange and yellow flames licking across the bodywork.

The special tints and highlights are designed to make the flames appear ‘alive’.

The interior of the car has been kitted out with custom tan bucket seats, center console, and steering wheel, as well as an upgraded stereo and air conditioning.

As if its paintwork isn’t quite enough to turn heads, the Camaro also has a rebuilt 355 V8 engine that delivers a ‘deep, throaty note’ thanks to a dual exhaust system.

The listing described the vehicle as a ‘work of art’, and it’s hard to disagree.

“Built as a true show car, this Camaro is ready to impress on the road or the show field,” the seller wrote.

However, when it came to auction, it’s fair to say it didn’t exactly put a fire under bidders.

The top bid didn’t come close to the $100k the owner spent

After spending more than $100,000 on the custom Camaro, the owner decided to sell it on and put it up for sale on eBay

The Camaro managed to attract a total of 26 bids, but none of them came close to the $100,000 the owner spent building the car.

When the auction drew to a close earlier this week, the top bid was sitting at just $37,400.

This wasn’t enough to hit the reserve, meaning the show car remained unsold and is still on the hunt for a new owner.

Surely there’s someone out there who has a burning desire to get their hands on it.
