A 1989 Ford Taurus was discovered in a California junkyard and it turns out to be from a famous Pimp My Ride episode

A battered 1989 Ford Taurus sitting in a California junkyard has been identified as one of the most memorable cars ever featured on MTV’s Pimp My Ride.

The vehicle was discovered at an LKQ salvage yard in Wilmington, California, where eagle-eyed fans quickly realized it wasn’t just any old Taurus.

It turns out the car belonged to Rachelle, whose ride was transformed by West Coast Customs during Season three of the iconic show.

Even more surprisingly, the episode also featured a future Hollywood star long before she became famous.

The 1989 Ford Taurus had some of the wildest modifications on Pimp My Ride

When Rachelle’s aging Ford Taurus car appeared on Pimp My Ride in 2005, Xzibit and the West Coast Customs team gave it a dramatic makeover.

The once tired sedan was fitted with Lamborghini-style front doors that opened upwards and custom rear doors that slid outward electronically.

The car also received a unique interior makeover that reflected Rachelle’s positive personality.

One of the most memorable additions was an ‘affirmation machine’ installed inside the car.

The device was designed to compliment the owner whenever she needed a boost, making it one of the more unusual modifications ever featured on the show.

Photos and videos from the junkyard reveal that many of the custom components have disappeared over the years.

However, the welded front doors remain in place, while parts of the custom rear door system still appear to function manually despite the electronics no longer working.

The once shiny silver paint and custom upholstery have also deteriorated after years of use and exposure.

The famous episode featured Tiffany Haddish before she was a star

Part of the reason fans immediately recognized the episode is because it featured comedian Tiffany Haddish years before she became a household name.

At the time, Haddish appeared as a friend of Rachelle and was also reportedly friends with Xzibit.

Her appearance has become a popular piece of Pimp My Ride trivia as her career later exploded with roles in films and television.

According to enthusiasts who track surviving Pimp My Ride vehicles, Rachelle reportedly kept the Taurus for around two decades after the show aired.

The car is said to have suffered engine problems not long after filming, which may explain why it eventually fell into disrepair.

Now there is hope the Taurus could avoid being crushed altogether.

Members of the Pimp My Ride preservation community have reportedly contacted West Coast Customs and salvage yard staff to explore rescuing the vehicle before it is dismantled.

While a restored 1989 Ford Taurus may never be worth a fortune, its value lies in its place in television history.

For many viewers who grew up watching MTV in the 2000s, it represents a rare surviving piece of one of the most recognizable car shows ever made, found in a random junkyard.
