This guy bought his very first car, a 1998 Nissan Maxima, rebuilt it nearly from scratch, and used it to beat a Porsche in a drag race.
The car only cost him $1,000, but he had to spend a fortune rebuilding and giving it enough power to take on the Porsche 911.
Still, it was clearly worth it.
And there’s another reason the fact that he pulled it off shouldn’t be a surprise.

Freddy Hernandez, aka Tavarish, is a car collector and YouTuber who’s done the thing many car fans say they want to do one day: he bought his old car back.
Tavarish’s first car was a 1998 Nissan Maxima, which he bought and modified extensively to turn it into a Porsche 911-beating machine.
And he pulled it off.
With enough money, time, and skill, nearly any car can become a Porsche 911 killer in a drag race.
At least in theory.
All you have to do is slam some turbochargers under the hood of your car and tweak the ECU, which is its electronic ‘brain’, and Bob’s your uncle.
It’s obviously much easier said than done, but that’s the gist.

And we shouldn’t be surprised because this is the guy who successfully managed to rebuild a flooded McLaren P1.
We’re talking about the very same McLaren P1 damaged by Hurricane Ian in Florida about three years ago.

After the fateful event, the owner sold it at auction for $575,000, which, for a car that’s potentially unsalvageable, isn’t too bad.
That’s when Tavarish stepped in and pledged to restore the car.
It’s costing him a fortune, and it’s taking forever, but he’s pulling it off.
With that in mind, turning a Nissan Maxima into a drag race beast was probably a walk in the park.
