A 2017 Toyota Hilux pickup truck joined the 1,000,000km club in 2023, showcasing how reliable the Japanese manufacturer’s trucks are.
Facebook user Russell Venter shared his vehicle’s mileage on the social media platform in December 2023, where images showed the high mileage on the odometer.
The pickup truck made its way into the Facebook group ‘Mileage Impossible’ after it had surpassed the 1,000,000km barrier, which is roughly 620,000 miles.
Fellow Facebook users were impressed by what the truck had achieved and highlighted the importance of regular maintenance and care.

The high-mileage 2017 Toyota Hilux caused a stir
The Toyota Hilux owner, Russell, who is from South Africa, shared a photo of the truck as well as one of the odometer.
When the photograph was taken in 2023, the truck had 996,280km on the odometer.
It was not long before it would hit the one million mark.

1,000,000km is around 621,371, so that is a good showing from the Japanese pickup truck.
Supercar Blondie has reached out to Russell to see how many more miles the truck has done over the past two years, but given the reliability of the Hilux, we imagine it’s put a fair few on the clock.
How long can a Hilux pickup truck last?
The Toyota Hilux has proven it can survive virtually anything thrown at it.
It is also one of the most reliable vehicles on record and quite a popular pickup truck globally.
While not available in the United States due to the infamous ‘Chicken Tax’, the Hilux is massively popular in Europe and Australia.

Outlets such as Car Buyer in the UK regularly give it high reliability ratings and scores.
It shares the same reliability traits as many other Toyota vehicles, something the Japanese company is world-renowned for.
Sadly, those in America won’t be able to experience this legendary reliability.
The ‘Chicken Tax’ is a 25 percent tariff on light trucks imported into the USA, and as the Hilux is made outside of America, it sadly falls under that.
However, that doesn’t stop the rest of the world from being able to enjoy the Hilux to the max!
