The owner of a fourth-generation Toyota Tacoma has revealed what he misses about his old third-generation model after hitting 1,000 miles.
Toyota released the Tacoma pickup truck in 1995, and it’s been a strong seller for the marque, shifting almost 200,000 units in the US last year.
The pickup is currently in its fourth generation, which was revealed inn 2022.
Now, the owner of one has shared his feelings about the fourth-generation Toyota Tacoma as he compared it to the older model.

The owner of a fourth-generation Toyota Tacoma has shared his thoughts
The Toyota Tacoma is known for its reliability; one man even managed to clock up more than a million miles in his.
On the other end of the scale, the owner of a fourth-generation Toyota Tacoma has shared his thoughts after putting just 1,000 miles on the clock.

In a post on the 4th Generation Toyota Tacoma Owners Group Facebook page, he compared the vehicle to the third-generation model, where he admitted that he ‘missed some things’ about the older pickup.
He started off by saying that the fourth-generation Tacoma was ‘an upgrade in many ways’, but went on to say what he was missing about the third-gen.
“The backseat space: somehow the backseat got smaller,” he wrote. “I would have liked to get into an i-FORCE MAX but decided not to as you lose the under-seat storage and with the rear passenger area already shrinking, storage space is already a premium.”
He also said the air conditioning compressor was a lot louder and that it was ‘constantly cycling on and off’ – and he didn’t stop there.
“I notice rattles in the driver’s door when I play music that has any amount of bass in it,” he continued. “The 3rd gen interior felt slightly better put together.”
Alongside that, he claimed that he had better miles per gallon in his older 2.4 turbo than in his current 3.5 V6.

However, even with all of that said, the Toyota driver stressed that the fourth-generation pickup is ‘still far better’ than its predecessor and branded the issues he had noted as ‘minor annoyances’ that don’t make him regret his purchase.
The Tacoma pick-up remains a popular choice
After being in production for three decades, the Tacoma remains a popular choice in the US, showing that American motorists have an enduring love of rugged pickups.
In the first half of 2025 alone, sales reached a remarkable 130,873 units, outselling every single Lexus EV combined.
In fact, in Q1 of this year, the truck even managed to outsell the Toyota Corolla – previously the best-selling car in the world.
Impressive stuff.
