This man went to an auction planning to buy a Porsche 944, but walked away with a $530 Jaguar.

Harry, the host of YouTube channel Cash Machine Cars, originally wanted a 944 that had been sitting stationary for around five years.

But when a 1988 Jaguar XJS crossed his path, he felt he could get it for a reasonable price.

Would his risky gamble pan out once he got it home?

How this man went home from an auction with a $530 Jaguar instead of a Porsche 944

When the Jaguar came up at auction, Harry didn’t see the harm in putting in a bid.

He reasoned: “I put it in $633, because I thought ‘It’s a Jaguar, it’s got to be worth it’.

“We won it for $530 in the end, which is mad cheap. But we still hadn’t looked at the car.

“So we went to pick it up and… yeah, the brakes were seized.

“The thing is so heavy, it weighs an absolute ton.

“We got it back here in one piece.”

Harry mentioned that the car had a few problems, which he went on to detail in his video.

After the car came off the trailer, it left a trail of fluid, the result of a broken brake line.

The body was also suffering from some rust, particularly on the doors.

Harry commented: “The underneath looks kind of okay, but I don’t think there’s a panel on here without some rust bubbles.”

Inside the boot, it appeared that a family of squirrels had taken up residence.

Not ideal, but still a better scenario than mice, like with this Honda Acura NSX.

Is this car saveable?

Besides the ‘gross’ boot, the interior wasn’t looking too bad.

Harry: “The floors don’t look completely rotten.”

It’s not exactly high praise, but when it comes to pre-owned cars, this is still a positive.

Not everybody gets this luxury, though – like this guy who was disgusted by what he found in the backseat of a 2002 BMW 745i.

As Harry said of the Jaguar’s underside, it’s ‘nothing tragic’.

Yeah, it needed some work, but it wasn’t beyond hope.

Harry concluded: “We need to sort the brake line out.

“I can’t wait to give this thing a proper mop and polish.

“I’m really surprised at the condition of it, I don’t think I’ll need to do any welding on it.”
