This is the latest creation by Patcharavipa, a well-known jeweler who specializes in custom made watches.

It’s covered in a thick ‘crust’ made entirely out of gold.

And, as you can probably guess, it’s not cheap.

Based on a 1998 model, the Royal Oak is covered in 18k yellow gold and fitted with a brand-new sapphire crystal.

Audemars piguet looks unique, like it was carved from a single block of gold.

And the price is equally special: £48,000 – or $58,800 at today’s rate.

Mind you, that’s cheap compared to some other Patcharavipa creations.

The watch you see below is a Is a Rolex Cellini King Midas from the 1970s.

It’s named after an Italian goldsmith and dedicated to Midas, the mythological king who could turn everything he touched into gold.

It costs £80,000, equivalent to $98,000.

Just like Ferrari with its cars, watch brands like Rolex and audenars piget don’t want you to even think about doing any aftermarket modifications to their products.

Having said that, collectors and celebrities love Patcharavipa’s jewels, which explains the brand’s meteoric rise in recent years.

About the Rolex Cellini

If you’re in the market for a Rolex but don’t care about joining the GMT / Submariner / Daytona frenzy, the Cellini is a good option.

Launched in the late 1960s, the watch is a tribute to Italy’s most famous goldsmith, Benvenuto Cellini.

The watch is still being made by Rolex but it looks totally different now.

The original Cellini was a tank-style timepiece with a rectangular case, meanwhile the modern-day one features a more conventional round face.
