So what is the opposite of ‘value for money’?

Well, to find out, we could start with these four cars because they’re all more expensive than you might think.

From a muscle car to Britain’s most brutal sports car, let’s have a look.

5. Ariel Atom – $75,000

The Ariel Atom is a track-focused sports car designed for fun.

The base model delivers over 350 horsepower but it only weighs 600 kg, which means the power-to-weight ratio is insane.

It’s fast as heck, hitting 60 mph (100 km/h) from standstill in 3 seconds or less depending on the model.

You don’t get much in the way of luxury but the price is still steep.

In the US, it starts at $75,000.

…for a car with no windshield.

4. Dodge Challenger Demon 170 – $97,000

Remember when muscle cars gave you cheap and easy access to high performance?

Yeah, well, those days are gone.

This is the new Dodge Challenger Demon 170, a record-breaking machine that can achieve 0 to 60 mph in just 1.66 seconds.

It’s crazy fast, faster than a Rimac Nevera or a Ferrari SF90 or even a Porsche 918 Spyder.

Unfortunately, it is also crazy expensive.

Are you ready? It costs $96,666.

And since things like the GPS and leather seats are not included in the price, you can easily bring the total up to $150,000 or more.

3. Acura NSX – $170,000

Sold in the US under the Acura brand and as a Honda everywhere else, the NSX is a proper sports car.

It can keep up with most supercars thanks to its ultra-sophisticated hybrid engine delivering 600 horsepower.

It looks like a sports car but at the end of the day, it’s an Acura.

The first model, unveiled in the 1990s, was supposed to be a supercar for the everyday driver.

But the modern one is just a bit too expensive for the everyday driver at $170,000 plus taxes.

2. Noble M600 – $330,000

The Noble M600 is a British supercar built by a small-batch manufacturer in north England.

It’s loud, rare, and fast.

Unfortunately, it has to compete in a market segment dominated by brands like Ferrari and Lamborghini.

As such, you’d expect it to be either faster than those legacy brand supercars, or cheaper.

It’s neither.

It’s just as fast as a brand-new Ferrari but crucially, it is also just as expensive.

Pricing may vary, since each car is basically hand-built, but you’re looking at a $330,000 starting price.

1. Ford GT – $500,000

The original Ford GT40 was a ‘hero of the people’.

It was built by Ford to beat Ferrari and it was available for a relatively modest price.

However, the new one can no longer be considered a blue-collar hero for two reasons.

One, it’s one of those cars you can’t just go out and buy because first you need to apply and be approved by Ford.

And two, with an MSRP of around $500,000, this is effectively more expensive than anything this side of a Bugatti.

And the madness doesn’t end there because the limited-edition Ford GT Mk IV costs $1.7 million
