Insane 8x8 articulating off-road fire truck is listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace

If you’ve ever browsed Facebook Marketplace, you’ll know you can pretty much get your hands on anything.

From furniture to power tools, cars to massive 8×8 articulating off-road fire trucks, you name it, it’s on there.

We’re not even joking about there being fire trucks on marketplace either.

Someone’s actually listed a 1990 Rosenbauer DA-1500 fire truck for sale on the platform.

We’re not entirely sure who’d be in the market to buy a fire truck, especially on marketplace, but it’s an interesting find nonetheless.

The Rosenbauer DA-1500 is actually based on the Oshkosh Mk.48 LVS, a transport vehicle that was used in the 1980s by the United States Marine Corps.

It was an incredibly useful bit of kit, thanks to its eight-wheel-drive capability, impressive turn radius, and versatility.

And when it came to fire-fighting duty, the Mk.48 was able to go where normal fire trucks couldn’t.

So, Austrian fire truck builder Rosenbauer took a handful of Mk.48 chassis and turned them into DA-1500 off-road fire trucks.

And the rest, as they say, is history.

The behemoth DA-1500 has eight massive wheels, two selectable drive modes (4×8 or 8×8) and a two-speed transfer case.

And with a 46-degree front approach angle, a 50-degree rear departure angle, and a 60-inch wading depth, very little can stand in its way.

Incredibly, despite being 36-feet long, it’s much more maneuverable than you’d expect, thanks to its articulating body and center yaw steering.

A vehicle weighing nearly 25,000 pounds has to have some serious power under its hood.

That’s why the DA-1500 is fitted with a Detroit Diesel V8 paired to a four-speed Alison automatic.

That giant lump makes 540 horsepower but it won’t win any drag races, as it apparently takes 40 seconds to reach 97 km/h (60 mph).

When it comes to putting out fires in the wilderness, the DA-1500 is capable of holding 1,500 gallons of water on-board.

That huge water holding capacity comes at a cost, though, as the DA-1500 only has enough room to carry two crew members.

According to the marketplace listing, the fire truck has has two owners in its entire life, and has a fully documented history including all prior maintenance, parts/operators manuals, and ownership title.

The asking price? $120,000, which actually seems pretty cheap, considering the DA-1500 originally cost $1.2 million.
