Tesla Chief Designer, Franz von Holzhausen, has been seen in a matte black Cybertruck – and it turns out it’s not a wrap.

We’ve had months of sneak peeks of the Tesla Cybertruck in its original stainless steel color.
It’s also cropped up in camo and disguised as a Ford F-150 for fun – and even wood.

However this all-black look is timeless and classic.
Von Holzhausen was at the wheel in Santa Monica Teslas & Coffee on Saturday (4 November) according to Adam C (aka @AtomAntEater) on X.
The sighting was thought to potentially herald an upcoming factory option of wrapping the Cybertruck.
However a post since then to the Tesla CyberTruck group on Facebook has disputed it being a vinyl wrap.
The post by Joshua Rickards claims that it’s “anodized titanium layered/coated stainless steel”.
However one comment on the wrap disagreed.
“There’s literally a video of the wrap peeling up where a shitty body line is pinching the wrap,” it said.
“It’s a wrap.
“Or maybe it’s the anodized titanium cryotreat crinkled the aluminum,” they said paired with crying laughing emojis.
Others agreed that it was a “rushed” wrap job as “SS cannot be anodized.”
Tesla recently launched a premium color wrap for the Model 3 and Model Y.
These are priced at $7,500-$8,000.
A similar option for the Cybertruck could be a possibe option.
This is partly because stainless steel can’t be easily painted and would add a layer of personalization.
However a vehicle of this size would require a lot more wrapping and cost $10K + to do.
But the Cybertruck’s relative fewer curves would make installation and cutting easier than Model 3 and Y.
Some believe wrap options will appear within several months of the 30 November launch.
