One of world's most impressive cities only exists two months a year

Ice and Snow World is one of the biggest attractions in the world, covering more than 750,000 square meters.

Also known as Bingxue Large World, Ice and Snow World in Harbin, China, consumes ice and snow over 300,000 cubic meters.

Want to visit? You’ll have to be quick to get there in 2024 – it’s only around for about two months a year.

From around December 20 to next February, it’s a unique ice and snow tourist and cultural festival.

It’s commissioned by Harbin Municipal Government and sponsored by Harbin Cultural Tourism Group.

It’s one of the most breathtaking parts of Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival.

And it’s not the only tourist city to be enjoyed – Saudi Arabia are working on their own, while this cruise ship is almost a sailing city.

And, in terms of the millions of annual visitors that come to enjoy the stunning views, it’s become one of the most popular winter attraction in the world.

According to its creators, at the dreamlike attraction visitors can enjoy not only “amazing colorful illuminated ice and snow sculptures”, but also “various interesting cultural activities and winter sports”.

The annual event began in 1999 to ring in the new millennium.

Harbin Muncipal Government built what they hoped would be a “shining icy and snowy DisneyLand”.

Speaking of Disney, their new private jet experience costs more than a Porsche Panamera.

Back to Harbin, and the winter wonderland was to be a “charming and romantic fairy world is formed with ice and snow”.

Since then, the annual event has become synonymous with the town.

Visitors can enjoy record-breaking mammoth ice and snow structures that can be over three stories high.

Beautiful in the day, it’s even more breathtaking as the sun sets.

The multicolored lights surrounding the snow and ice creations illuminate them with a kaleidoscope of color against the night sky.

There’s also exquisite art in the form of an international ice engraving competition, an ice and snow LED lighting competition, an ice and snow photography show, and an ice and snow oil-painting show.

Lucky tourists can also enjoy cultural activities and winter sports.

There are some on ice: think skating, curling, sleighing, ice biking, and a 320m ice slide.

And others on snow: think skiing, snow football, snow circling, snowman building, and snowball fights.

There’s also a ‘Parent-Kid Paradise’ and shows combining dancing, acrobatics, opera, and puppet shows.
