Originally built in 1990, the G-Wagen you see here is a Wolf model that started life as a military vehicle.

It served as transport in the Bundeswehr for the armed forces of the Republic of Germany and, after being decommissioned, it underwent a complete transformation with a full cosmetic and mechanical restoration and upgrade.

The bare-metal refinish resulted in the bright yellow hue seen here, and the vehicle was also fitted with a two-inch lift kit for the suspension, larger off-road tires, and a full rebuild of both the motor and transmission.

There’s more, too.

This car comes with the ‘Wolf’ spec, turning this off-roader into a rugged convertible that can transport the owner from a rough track to the ocean and back.

The Wolf version of the G-Wagen originated as a commission from the Shah of Iran, who ordered 20,000 trucks that could handle the heat and desert terrain that the military needed.

Underneath the beach-friendly bodywork, this G-Wagen, which is a capable off-roader to begin with, was made better with short overhangs and three differentials for maximum grip when needed.

The Wolf G-Wagen comes with new seats, 15-inch Mercedes steel wheels, a grill guard, a rear jerry-can holder, front indicator cages, and a snorkel kit.

Under the hood beats a 2.5-liter OM602 five-cylinder diesel ‘heart’, paired to a four-speed heavy-duty manual transmission.

The Mercedes-Benz Wolf GD250 heading for auction over at SBX Cars has done 80,724 km (50,160 miles) from new.

This unique take on the already iconic G-Wagen makes this feel like a special one-off.
