The Bugatti Chiron is one of the most iconic hypercars ever built.
Bugatti’s 8.0 liter beast has served as the French marque’s flagship since 2016.
However, one owner in Austria was caught enjoying his Chiron a little bit too much.
And, unfortunately, Austrian police have made him pay the price.

Bugatti Chiron: World’s best hypercar?
When the Bugatti Veyron retired in 2015, many wondered how the French brand could ever top it.
First released in 2005, the Veyron completely changed the hypercar standard forever.
In 2016, Bugatti revealed the prince to the crown – that car would be the Chiron.
The Chiron shared some of its components with its predecessor.
For example, both shared a carbon fiber body structure, as well as independent suspension.

The Chiron came with the same, albeit heavily updated, 8.0 liter, quad-turbocharged W16 engine.
And, as you now know, the Chiron wowed the masses from the second it was released.
A 0-60 time of just 2.4 seconds set a new standard for the entire car industry.
There was also the small matter of being capable of doing 0-125mph in just 6.5 seconds.
In fact, Bugatti had to limit the Chiron’s top speed to 261mph electronically.
The reason? Because no current tire in production would be capable of handling the Chiron at its actual top speed.
Now, that is one imposing legacy to leave.
Austrian Police impound Chiron for speeding
As you might imagine, the Chiron is the topic of today’s story.
And it’s the Chiron’s speed that has landed it in trouble.
For those who don’t know, Austria is incredibly strict when it comes to speed limits.
The European country is also known for its hefty fines for speeding-related offences.

This is the fate that befell one particular Bugatti Chiron driver recently.
In a video uploaded to YouTube, police can be seen on the Vienna Ringstrasse.
Apparently, local authorities clocked the Chiron driving at 76mph.
To be fair, when one has a hypercar capable of going over 260mph, speed is a little different.
The driver has reportedly had his driving license temporarily canceled.
