This town is the ultimate nostalgia source and will transport you back in time to the 1950s.

After 1970, the Arizona time capsule was already a ghost town, but what remains in 2026 will blow your mind.

From a vintage diner to feed your appetite to streets full of muscle cars, the area is like no other.

There’s one standout element, though, and every gearhead will be fascinated by the remains of a 1950s staple.

It’s 2026, right? Not in this abandoned Arizona town

From gas stations to shop fronts, the streets of Lowell are stuck in time and a far cry from Phoenix’s modern streets and flashy high-rise buildings.

“While most of it was lost to the Lavender Pit mining operations, Erie Street remains perfectly frozen in time, a nostalgic 1950s street filled with classic cars, retro signs, and timeless charm,” explained Welcome To Arizona.

The cars prove how old the remains really are – but more on that later.

What the abandoned ghost town has to offer

Of course, for car lovers, there is one big attraction that is a must visit – the Shell gas station.

While we’ve all seen a gas station, we bet you’ve not seen one quite like this before.

In Lowell, the Shell gas station is an original structure that has been restored after a fundraiser.

The gas station’s yellow and red branding and vintage gas pumps are a sight to behold.

According to Arizona Detours, there is also a Greyhound Bus to visit, which has been parked on the town’s Erie Street.

Although it wasn’t actually from Lowell, it was brought into the time capsule town as it is a symbol of the retro travel life of America’s past.

Also on Eerie Street, you’ll find the street lined with vintage cars as well as vinatge hardware store.

Think Chevy, Cadillac, Dodge – all the classics that made the US go down in auto history.

It sure is every vintage car fan’s dream day out – would you dare to dance with the ghosts of Lowell, Arizona?
