The Airbus Beluga is undoubtedly one of the strangest planes to ever exist, and that’s purely because of its size and shape.

If you’ve never looked at it before, you might even question if this thing can fly if you see it.

Its shape certainly makes it stand out, but it’s like that for a reason.

A video of its landing and take-off is an unusual sight and might just make you wonder if it follows the laws of physics — which it does, by the way.

Footage of Airbus Beluga landing and taking off seems unreal

Airbus built the Airbus A300-600ST — or Beluga as it is commonly known — to transport large aircraft parts to and from several huge factories.

It’s not an airplane you see every day, and it even has its own airline.

A YouTube channel called RVA Aviation posted a video of the aircraft landing and further taking off, it’s a jaw-dropping sight, to say the least.

You see, watching the landing gear and engines that seem like the usual size carrying an aircraft body as huge as this is strange.

But it does that easily, and it’s one of Airbus’ most efficient creations.

If you don’t believe it, watch the entire thing yourself.

Why does this aircraft exist?

The Airbus Beluga has a unique shape that lets the company transport aircraft parts without disassembling them.

This increases the overall production efficiency of building other aircraft like the A380.

Although the Beluga is fairly recent, it’s not the first unusual freighter Airbus has used.

Before the Beluga, Airbus had five Super Guppys — which also had an atypical shape.

However, as the company expanded, the Guppy fleet wasn’t enough, so Airbus built its own freighter with higher capacity.

What’s more, after the company had five Airbus Beluga aircraft, it saw the need for more.

That gave rise to the BelugaXL, which is a ridiculously oversized variant.

Freighter aircraft like these may look odd, but they are also beneficial when fulfilling their tasks.
