An American man has attempted to turn a box with $47,000 worth of parts into a kit airplane from Zenith.

YouTuber Wairworthy is building what he called a backcountry airplane out of a kit of parts and then taking it to the skies.

The YouTuber went through various options for a new aircraft before he settled on a kit being the best option for him.

The Zenith kit is an impressive little aircraft, one that looked like it would be fun to fly once the kit was assembled.

The Zenith is all about short takeoffs and landings

The airplane kit chosen was the Zenith CH750 Superduty.

This is a lightweight plane designed to take off and land in absurdly short distances, and often on grass runways.

It’s an aircraft with an all-metal construction, and impressively for its size, it can carry up to three people.

If you want to carry luggage, the load can be reduced to two passengers but with the bonus of 200lbs of cargo.

Before selecting the Zenith, Wairworthy went to visit its build location and see one in person before making his final decision.

Zentith’s airplane came in a pair of boxes

When delivered, the Zenith came in two boxes, and that included all of the parts needed to get it built.

Around 700 parts form the aircraft, but the box also includes at least 10,000 rivet.

In total, the kit cost Wairworthy $46,780, and the toolkit to assemble it was $750.

The video shows the YouTuber taking the kit out of its boxes and packaging, and then starting the assembly process.

This initial video was posted onto YouTube on March 27th and is just the beginning of the build.

While the kit is affordable, Wairworthy wants his finished aircraft to rival backcountry planes that cost upwards of $500,000.

That means building it to the highest standard possible.

So he’ll have to use as many high-quality parts and tools as possible to complete the build.

With more videos on the way, it’ll be fascinating to see what the finished Zenith looks like.
