Amazon Autos is now selling certified pre-owned vehicles in the used car market, partnering with Hyundai dealers to list cars online with return options and warranty coverage.

This move allows buyers to browse certified pre-owned cars through Amazon Autos, connecting dealership inventory to an online shopping platform.

Hyundai dealers in Los Angeles are the first to offer these listings, with additional cities planned to join.

Amazon’s expansion marks a significant shift in how the used car market operates, and what follows could redefine how people shop for used cars.

How Amazon is reshaping the used car market

The program begins with Hyundai dealers listing certified pre-owned vehicles on Amazon Autos, opening up their inventory to online shoppers.

While Hyundai models will lead the rollout, Amazon confirmed that cars from other manufacturers will also be available if they meet certification standards.

Every vehicle listed under this program will include a 3-day or 300-mile return window, alongside a 30-day or 1,000-mile limited warranty.

Amazon Autos ensures that each certified pre-owned listing includes a full vehicle history report.

Pricing is intended to be transparent, with no hidden fees added during checkout.

Customers wanting a closer look can arrange test drives directly through participating Hyundai dealers, keeping the dealership connection active while using Amazon’s platform for initial browsing.

Buyers can filter certified pre-owned searches by location, with results limited to a 75-mile radius of Hyundai dealers.

This helps streamline the selection process while keeping purchases local.

With the used car market becoming more competitive, Amazon is leveraging its digital platform to provide a new avenue for certified pre-owned vehicle sales, while dealers benefit from increased online visibility.

Fan Jin, who leads Amazon Autos, said: “By including certified pre-owned and used vehicles, we’re meeting dealer demand for broader online reach while offering customers a wider selection of high-quality vehicles.”

From new cars to certified pre-owned as Amazon’s next step

Amazon Autos first entered the automotive sales space in December 2024, launching new vehicle sales in over 130 cities.

Expanding into certified pre-owned vehicles is a natural next step, giving Hyundai dealers and others a broader platform in the used car market.

While Hyundai dealers are central to the initial rollout, Amazon clarified that certified pre-owned cars from other brands will also appear on Amazon Autos.

As long as a vehicle meets the required certification standards, it will be eligible for listing, giving buyers access to a wider selection.

For dealerships, Amazon Autos acts as an additional sales channel, connecting their certified pre-owned inventory with Amazon’s extensive customer base.

This approach blends dealership-backed quality assurance with the convenience of online search, making the used car market more accessible to digital-first buyers.

The expansion into certified pre-owned sales shows Amazon’s intent to modernize the used car market, offering dealerships a new storefront while giving consumers a familiar online platform to explore vehicle listings.

As digital retail continues to reshape the automotive landscape, Amazon Autos is positioning itself as a key player in how certified pre-owned cars are bought and sold.
