This American YouTuber turned his sofa into a car, and gave couch surfing a whole new meaning.

Drew Dirksen has turned a lot of things into race cars, including his bed and toilet.

So a sofa would be a walk – or roll – in the park, right?

Well, at any rate, he’d sure have fun trying.

We don’t know about you, but we love a wacky DIY project.

One man turned himself into a gas station, whilst another took himself for a trip down the Missouri River in a homemade raft.

On the more sophisticated end of things is the Kingsman Royal Enfield Shotgun 650.

Drew Dirksen, an American YouTuber, is no stranger to a kooky project.

You may recall that he’d previously turned his bed into a car.

Why?

So that he could grab his morning cup of coffee without leaving the comfort of his bed.

And that’s just as good a reason as any.

This time around, the inventive content creator was giving his sofa the Hot Wheels treatment.

Well, not quite his couch.

It was one acquired from Facebook Marketplace, but still.

First things first, Dirksen and his pal removed the sofa’s legs and placed a wooden platform onto the sofa’s underside.

Wheels were then added, and many test drives were undertaken.

But at that point, it was more like an overgrown office chair than a race car.

An electric skateboard was added to give the couch more speed.

In fact, two were added.

“Oh my gosh, dude,” Dirksen exclaimed.

“This thing is going to go like 50 miles an hour.”

But that wasn’t all.

A hole was drilled in the bottom of the couch, and the lower end of a scooter was inserted.

At this point, the bed had about 14 wheels to work with, which is quite remarkable.

But given how small they were, they were probably the equivalent of two regular-sized wheels.

Eventually, it was time to put it to the test on a race track.

It may not have looked like the most graceful performance of all time, but Dirksen nailed it.

To see the process for yourself, head over to his YouTube channel.
