A loyal Android user says he was very close to making the switch to the Apple iPhone 17, but there were a few things holding him back.
The world can be broadly split into two groups: iPhone users and Android users.
Occasionally, folks will make the change from one to the other without looking back.
But for Android user Linus Sebastian from the Linus Tech Tips YouTube channel, there were some sticking points preventing him from the swap.

He was impressed by the newly launched Apple iPhone 17
When it comes to tech, Linus knows his stuff.
He’s previously taken a super deep dive into how different TVs match up to their pricing, and has managed to leave Jimmy Fallon completely baffled after introducing him to some bizarre new technology.
And when it comes to his smartphone, Linus is Team Android.

However, he does admit that every year he’s ‘hopeful’ that Apple might release a new device that can tempt him across to the iPhone.
This year, the tech giant released the iPhone 17 series as well as the iPhone Air, all of which run on the new iOS 26.
Linus decided to give the new iPhone Air a try as his ‘daily driver’ for a few weeks, noting that it was ‘different enough’ from Apple’s previous models to be worth a shot.
He also trialed the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro Max.
It didn’t get off to a smooth start, and he initially had some issues migrating to iOS and found the Apple tech support to be ‘useless,’ but after sticking with it, he was up and running.
He admitted that the Air looked ‘absolutely outstanding’ thanks to its sleek and lightweight design, but that it had a few ergonomic issues, including being slightly top-heavy thanks to the camera.

But it was actually the standard iPhone 17 that he felt performed best.
Linus praised its durable Ceramic Shield 2, impressive dual cameras, the 120Hz adaptive ProMotion display, and decent storage options.
He said that while the standard model was a lot cheaper than the Pro version, it still offered most of the same features, making it a smarter buy.
But not quite impressed enough to ditch the Android
Although Linus did have lots of good things to say about the iPhone 17, he went on to add that it wasn’t quite impressive enough to make him want to switch.
He said the lack of side-loading and the inability to make keyboard customizations were enough to put him off swapping his Android for an Apple.

He was also left unimpressed by the iPhone’s screen management, including locking scrolling screenshots to particular apps.
So, for now, he’s sticking with his trusty Android, but added that ‘maybe’ he’ll be tempted by the rumored upcoming foldable iPhone.
