Apple CarPlay will now display Live Activities with iOS 26, showing information from iPhone apps directly on the car screen.
The feature includes updates on flights, food deliveries, sports scores, and weather.
Live Activities first appeared on iPhone in 2022 and have gradually spread to other Apple devices.
Their arrival to Apple CarPlay marks a clear step in how drivers can view real-time information without reaching for a phone.

Apple CarPlay gets updated in iOS 26
Live Activities began on iPhone in 2022 as a way to follow live updates such as a delivery status or a sports score without opening an app.
Apple extended the feature to Apple Watch last year, with Mac and iPad updates expected soon.
With iOS 26, Apple CarPlay now supports the feature, moving the same information into the car interface.
Once iOS 26 is installed, any Live Activity running on an iPhone will also appear in Apple CarPlay.

This makes it possible to see a flight’s arrival time, follow the progress of a delivery, or check on charging status for an electric vehicle.
Weather changes and sports scores can also appear, all formatted to fit the dashboard display.
Drivers who prefer not to use the feature can switch it off in the iOS 26 settings.
For those who leave it active, Apple CarPlay becomes a way to check real-time updates without picking up a phone.
The future of CarPlay
The arrival of Live Activities in CarPlay is part of a broader expansion across Apple’s platforms.
The feature is already active on iPhone and Apple Watch, and it will be available on Mac and iPad later this year.
Adding it to the car creates a more consistent experience for users who rely on iPhone apps throughout the day.
Automakers continue to build their own infotainment systems, but Apple CarPlay remains widely used by drivers.

Integrating Live Activities gives it another function that connects the car display to the iPhone.
It places CarPlay at the center of how many drivers manage live information while on the road.
With Live Activities arriving in Apple CarPlay through iOS 26, drivers can now access real-time updates directly from iPhone apps in the dashboard.
The update shows how software alone can expand what in-car systems are capable of delivering.
